KATHMANDU, March 8: Election code of conduct for presidential election slated for March 13 came into effect from Wednesday.
The code bars the government from appointing, promoting and transferring government officials or taking any decisions that could influence voters. Members of the parliament and provincial assemblies elect new president.
The ruling alliance comprising CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Center) have fielded incumbent President Bidya Devi Bhandari for the second term while the main opposition Nepali Congress has fielded Kumari Laxmi Rai as its candidate for president.
